Project fi sounds amazing on the cost end but is the coverage area kill that positive aspect?

Unfortunately I am locked in tilll 1/2017 or $300 to pay off next plan obligations.

Iam on WiFi 95% of the time weather at home, work, gym and also have Xfinity as well so I have unlimited hotspots. My biggest issue I live in area that T-Mobile is littlerly nonexistent and Sprint is here nor their but growing...

What about the nexus 6p I understand you can make payments under fi? What options do I have as in color and size?

As you seem to understand, Project Fi working for you will depend on your finding T-Mobile's and/or Sprint's networks providing coverage you find acceptable in the areas you need it. Project Fi does roam seemingly everywhere T-Mobile and Sprint do, though performance will likely be degraded (such as 2G/3G data speeds); and you can't count on roaming in the areas you need coverage. Only you can decide if the coverage in your area is good enough for you, though being on WiFi so much will likely help; it might be worth a trial.

As for buying the 6P, yes Project Fi does offer payments. The selection, in terms of color and size, is the exact same as you get through the Google Store -- in fact, you actually get the phone from the Google Store and at the same price. Like all carriers, though, if you cancel Project Fi any balance you still owe on the phone will become due.

Project Fi also allows for wi-fi calling, so if you have pretty good wi-fi coverage in your area, calls could be made that way. The phone is supposed to intelligently figure out which networks are available and strongest. But in general, if T-Mobile and Sprint aren't strong in your area, it might not be worth your while.

OK. So I figure I would be paying $10 for data in which I would use half since I average about 550-475 mb a month. $20 for text an calling.. Which leads me to the device nexus 6p I would go with the 64gb. 549. + 90 for insurance looking at $25 month for 24 months $55 a month before taxes?

From your numbers, it looks like it would be around $50, since you should keep getting about a $5 credit each month for the unused data.

Another way to look at it is how much will you be saving every month on Fi. I have similar usage and figure to save at least $20/month (over current VZW cost). That savings will pay for the 6P over 24 months. IOW, if I do nothing VZW will get my $500 instead of Google and I don't get this great device.

Well unfortunately I'm locked into AT&T I'm under the next plan I got to pay the phone off to get out of my contract which I believe is over $470 my other concern with projects fi is that t-mobile is virtually non-existent up here Sprint has some good signal

You could always pay your way out of AT&T early.

The cheapest way to get on Project Fi is to grab a Nexus 6 off of eBay (Used under $300, new $350 or less), flash it with Marshmallow, and stick a ProjectFi SIM in there and try it out.

I had the same question. I'm in the Chicago NW suburbs and am currently on AT&T month to month with a paid off Note 4. I've been considering going to ST or Cricket, but downsides to both. I like the pricing of Project Fi and was eyeing the Nexus 6, but when I read about the 6P, It's really peaked my interest.

My dilemma is that I love my Note 4, tired of waiting on Updates though with the Carrier. I get great service with AT&T, Where I live, T-Mobile and Sprint are listed 3 and 4 out of the big 4 carriers. So even though sharing towers, not sure it would work for me. Although I know I could stay on AT&T with the 6P, Trying to save some on my bill. I would pay $50 and get 1gb more than on AT&T if I went on Project Fi.

I also am not sure if I would enjoy pure Android, but I know I would miss the opportunity to customize and use the phone for much more than I can with a Carrier phone. I hate that I couldn't prevent the Lollipop update on my Note 4, but still no root for it or Verizon N4. I'm having a hard time deciding what to do. I think I'm really waiting for more real world reviews from the people on the forum here before I pull the trigger on a decision. I'm liking the 64gb option and financing option with Project Fi also.

What are the downsides to Cricket? Seems like if AT&T is the coverage you need Cricket is the way to go. Cricket is cheaper than Project Fi if you use over 2Gb of data.

"Cricket still throttles all LTE to 8 megs don't they?" <<<<--------- This and no Mobile Hotspot! I might as well stay on AT&T, because I get both faster speeds and Mobile hotspot on that. I was considering ST until I found out you have to buy a Hotspot and get charged extra for that too. So wanted to hear how it was in the Chicago burbs.

I left TMobile back in 2007 for a lot of dropped calls and have friends who use Sprint for work and private numbers and they both have terrible service. So I'm a little hesitant to try Project Fi since it uses both.
