Treble doesn't make updates automatic.

It makes it easier.

But the OEM still needs to put in work.

Why the rush. Samsung experience will always be years ahead of any Android version. Whenever Galaxy users get a new Android version it doesn't change anything. You get more complaints than compliments. It always ruins the Samsung experience in some way.

I'll still be surprised if we see P in 2018. With other manufacturers upping their game in this area and Pixel 3 looming Samsung will have to smell the coffee on this one soon though. Just don't think it will be this year.
