there's a galaxy s5 only available in korea which has twice the resolution of the original s5 - galaxy s5 lte-a. which came out only 3months after the original
the phone runs exactly same software and hardware exept for display and ap processor - 2k AMOLED and snapdragon 805
snapdragon 805 has the same 20nm technology like 801 so power consumption is about the same if not worse.
but when compared to original, screen-on time difference between the two is only 3-5%. including 3d gaming, wifi web browsing and video playback(while set to same brightness precisely)
you can see on pocketnow coming up with same conclusion that battery life difference between the two is barely noticible
I don't get why people think that resolution is like a biggest factor to battery life when there is proof like this that it's not
