there's a galaxy s5 only available in korea which has twice the resolution of the original s5 - galaxy s5 lte-a. which came out only 3months after the original

the phone runs exactly same software and hardware exept for display and ap processor - 2k AMOLED and snapdragon 805

snapdragon 805 has the same 20nm technology like 801 so power consumption is about the same if not worse.

but when compared to original, screen-on time difference between the two is only 3-5%. including 3d gaming, wifi web browsing and video playback(while set to same brightness precisely)

you can see on pocketnow coming up with same conclusion that battery life difference between the two is barely noticible

I don't get why people think that resolution is like a biggest factor to battery life when there is proof like this that it's not

Good points and exactly why I'm reserving judgment until I can get my grubby little hands on one.

Maybe. We will have to wait as we are talking QHD plus 14nm Exynos 64 bit chipset and UFS storage and slimmed down TouchWiz. In totality, battery life may not be light years better but it should be enough to quiet the naysayers especially the swappable battery folks.

I don't see people claiming s6 has shorter battery in most discussion so far. Swappable battery folks weren't hanging on this point neither, they are more worrying about what happens when battery charge gets low, and/or when battery capacity gets low. None of these will be affected by OP's discovery.

BTW, it is a good thing to know, and it makes sense, whatever PPI it is, battery draw occurs with lit area, similar screen size just produce smaller pixels on a high ppi screen.
