Pros n Cons Software Update???

I been putting off updating my software.what exactly is updating software for.what are pros n cons of updating software? Is it necessary,do I have to update and is there a way to go around it? I'm not the least bit tech savvy at all.

Most of the updates are for monthly security, so I always take them as soon as they are available.

I, for example, won't do the Android Pie update because I use automatic phone calls recording which is not possible after the update, unless you root your phone. Phone calls recording will still be available, but only when initiated by you on every call. In principle, I do agree that updating the operating system is a good habit, but when I buy a good app that I know it won't function after the update, then I think twice.

That's my number 1 reason for my hesitation to upgrade, certain apps no longer work. The 2nd reason is because of fear that it will slow my phone down.

By far the biggest reasons to do an upgrade are (1) security and (2) bug fixes.

Possible pros in every upgrade:
- improved security
- bugs fixed
- new features
- better battery life

Possible cons in every upgrade:
- new bugs
- old features that you used are gone
- new features that you don't like are added
- worse battery life

That's only for iPhone users.

With any OS update, allow a few days for the battery life to smooth out. Often, there is a new kernel packed in and the OS needs time to relearn everything.

Just update it. Security patches are important

Ok,I updated it,n it keeps coming back saying it needs to be updated still like I never did,I did it three times.can anybody help me with this,I never experienced this and dont know what to do.

Did you actually see your phone being updated?

Yes,I actually did,i actually watched the last two times,vs pressing install now n putting phone down or walking away,it updated and restarted and all,I dont this.

The next time you try and update, once the phone comes back on, see if you get the notification that the software installation succeeded. It it doesn't install it will say update failed.
If it indeed fails, you might have something disabled. Have you used any apps which disable system services? Like bk actions ?

If I'm not mistaken,it said it succeeded but I'm just gonna try for the fourth time

Looking on Google,I think I may have found what's going on.I think my phone is behind in updates and it's doing it one update at a time until it install the latest.When I paid attention to what the update consisted of,it was different from the first one I read and numbers were different so,my fingers are crossed that,its not a problem at all.Cuz I really dont want to have to reset my phone,again!

Its installing and saying it's on November and started from june or july,so I'm on update number 6,smh! U wouldn't think it could or get that far behind,unless someone was by passing updates,I guess,idk but I'm hoping after the 10th update,ill be done.

Problem fixed,but I was expecting another one to pop for February,the last one says january,is that correct?
