Welcome to Android Central!

There are no settings for the proximity sensor on the phone. It could be that you have a defective unit, I would take it back to the carrier store and have them take a look at it. They should be able to swap you out since you just purchased it.

Thank you for your response. it's working for some reason they won't responding but I did a hard reset and there good now. 😅

If it happens again, my formula is

Phone under replacement warranty + problem = replacement. Always. Maybe even now that it works. If it's a flaky sensor and it goes out after the warranty, you'll have to live with it or pay for the repair.

Re: Proximity sensor issue on gs6 edge - FIXED!!

Hi all.. I had the unfortunate issue of my proximity sensor and auto brightness failing once I updated to v5.1.1 firmware EE on my S6 Edge. It appears if you enter *#0*# [/B]on the dialler and then sensors the Proximity and the Brightness Lux would not change.
Despite me performing a factory wipe, it appears that the post firmware update did not complete fully and therefore has not setup and reset the sensor for the phone as one of its tasks. It's also likely there is like NO HARDWARE issue.

You can simply perform the following to fix the issue:

1 - Turn OFF phone (HOLD power Button and Power Off)
2 - Hold UP VOLUME, HOME and POWER buttons simultaneously and wait until the Android logo appears and you should find the post firmware tasks will be completing (there usually is a wait of a couple mins here).
3 - The phone will automatically restart

Let me know if this fixes for anyone?
:)

So does this factory reset your phone, and do you think it would work even if the phone itself doesn't recognize the sensor problem? I ask this because I did the*#0*# and test and it only vibrates my phone when my hand is over the sensor which indicates is working normal.
