Just a FYI for new owners. No security patch until June.

Update 5/10: Google has confirmed to 9to5Google that the Pixel 3a will be getting an update to combine the April, May, and June security patches together on June 3rd. That’s quite a ways away, but Google says this is to “ensure the best customer experience.” Further, the company said that the pre-loaded software is based on the manufacturing schedule.

There are going to be a lot of unhappy campers.

I wonder if the delayed May update for the 3 and 3 XL is due in part to this?

Still April on the 3 XL. Wife's 2 XL (which used to be mine) already got May (as did mustang's).

It's always this way with their new device launches, no? I mean, the phones had to be in the boxes in April, so no patch there... Didn't release until the 7th, after the patch had been released, though an argument could be made..

I mean, I don't think we got a patch last fall until the November patch ...

I can't quite recall....the angst over slightly delayed updates seems worse. Like a crack habit.... I get wanting them fast but when someone tells me they check every 5 minutes that's pretty ruff.

Yes it's always like this for all new Pixel releases, they generally have last months or in this case 2 months back (surprising) security patch on launch phones. From the subsequent month after release they get on a monthly schedule. It's been this way for all pixel launches.
