Ever since I updated to the final 8.1 release, I've been having a lot of issues with apps crashing. And it's not just one or two but seemingly any/all of them.it happens pretty frequently and it's annoying. Is this happening to anyone else?

No. I haven't had a single application crash since the update.

Perhaps you should consider a Factory Reset and setup as new?

You have a few options:
1. Manually load the final 8.0 build and see if the problems go away. If they do you'll be stuck at that OS level and whatever Security Update was current at the time.
2. Run in Safe Mode and see if the stock applications are crashing as well. If they are then you likely have a hardware problem.
3. Reload the latest 8.1 build manually and be sure to clear the system cache in Recovery mode - it's possible something got corrupted during the upgrade to 8.1.

I've had Google apps such as play music and YouTube crash on me, though I haven't tried while in safe mode. also, I did a factory reset and set up as new when I got the final 8.1 build so I don't think anything could be corrupt

Well your best bet is to load the final 7.0 build, wipe the system cache and then set up as new.
Turn off automatic system updates and then see what happens. If you continue to have problems then there's something buggered up with the hardware.

Thanks for the advice, though idk if I want to continue doing factory resets and going through the whole setup process again. Takes a while to get everything back to the way I had it as far as apps/settings/customizations. Just annoying that I have to do this **** multiple times when I'm using a final public release, not like I'm using a beta or something

Now I'm scared to download/install the 8.1.0 update. It just popped up on my phone today.
