Public Wifi Notifications Driving Me Mad!!!

Hi all. I have a new Nothing Phone 2 running Android 13. I have been getting notifications (from the moment I started using the phone) of available public wifi networks. This is very annoying so immediately went about looking how to turn them off. I found the 'Notify for Public Networks' option in the wifi network preferences section of the settings and switched it off. Happy days I thought, until I went out to get some lunch and immediately got a notification of an open network. When I press and hold on the notification it says that the option cannot be changed but there was a cog so I tapped on that and it takes me to 'Network Status' in the Android system settings but the toggle is greyed out. I'm sure that's what keeps allowing these notifications through. I tried disabling the 'Network Alerts' and 'Network Available' options but they still show up.

Can anyone please help as it's driving me mad!!!

Cheers,

Si

Welcome to Android Central! Go to your saved wi-fi network list, and see if that open wi-fi network happens to be saved. If so, delete it from your saved list and see if it continues to notify you when you're in range.

Hi, thanks! You might be a genius. The networks that pop up the most (thinking about it) are the the free wifi on the bus and places I have used wifi before. I've removed them all from my saved list and will see how it goes now.
