Pull the trigger on the Thunderbolt?

To give you some context, I have used a Blackberry for my entire smartphone life up until a few months ago. I had been waiting for the right device to come out and when the Droid Pro dropped - I thought, perfect! I got it and as many have said, it was a jack of all trades but a master of none. The keyboard was not Blackberry enough and the small screen was not Droid enough. Alas, I brought it back within my 30 day window and have been using a random flip phone for the past few months while I wait for the right phone to come along. I live on a college campus with WiFi everywhere so my iPod touch has been able to get me though.

This morning I stumbled across an offer for the HTC Thunderbolt for $150 at Wirefly plus an extra $25 off by going through fatwallet.com. Net cost = $125 (free shipping, no activation fees). Great deal, no doubt. 4G is available in my area (metro NYC) and I want to grab a 4G plan before the pricing changes (which seems pretty eminent). However, I can't help but think this would be bad timing to buy the Thunderbolt with the very impressive devices rolling out in the next few weeks/months(?) The Droid Bionic looks amazing (dual processor!), as do the new HTC devices coming down the pipe. In a perfect world I'd like to get my hands on a 4G device that has the correct processor for Netflix (running on Verizon).

I'm not as avid an Android blogosphere reader as I once was so I'm looking for some input. Thoughts? Should I go for the Thunderbolt or continue to be patient in order to get the features I really want, even if it means risking losing unlimited data?

Thanks in advance!

The Thunderbolt will definitely fit your needs, the only gripe that I have with the phone is the lackluster battery life, which is easily corrected if you don't live in a cave you can charge your phone with a usb cable. I decided to pull the trigger on this device because I wanted to get locked into unlimited 4g data. I was on AT&T for a few months with an iPhone 4 and I couldn't stand not having unlimited data. You don't think it'll bother you too much but let me tell you, checking my data usage every few days sucks. I used to use Pandora all the time, I couldn't with the tiered data plan. Now that I have unlimited again, I can actually use the phone without any concern at all. And chances are that 4g will be faster than your schools wifi, which might I add is quite amazing. The phone does everything available without any issues, granted a dual core processor will be amazing, but I don't foresee any issues with the Thunderbolt under performing for at least a year.
