Up until yesterday my notification light has been working fine.. However now its a different story.. I use Gosms and have uninstalled and reinstalled, took battery and sim card out, enabled/disabled pulse light under settings in both system settings and messenger settings and it still fails to light upon receiving a new message.. I know the led itself still works though because I installed light flow and made it work through that..but it didn't light again when I got a new message with it, even though I'm sure I had it set up correctly.. also I kinda hate the idea of having to have a third party app installed just to get something that worked fine up until this point to work..not to mention it uses extra memory that could be used for other things.. I would really rather not do a factory reset because I don't want to lose all my data and everything.. anyone having this issue or have any other suggestions aside from the ones I mentioned above?

Thanks!

Edit: Also it seems to light up fine I believe when I get a call..normally lights up white then..and the same with voice mail, although I haven't had a call or voice mail today to check if that still works correctly..

Is your goal to make it work with or without Light Flow installed? Ah, re-reading your post I see that you don't like the idea of using it. Somehow I jumped over that to the factory reset part.

Here are a couple things to verify:

  1. Make sure Light Flow is uninstalled and that the settings under "Accessibility Options" are as close to the default settings as you can remember.
  2. Make sure that the Pulse LED Light option in settings -- I'm fairly certain it's in Display -- is enabled. I recognize that you've made sure of this once already.
  3. Make sure that in the settings for GoSMS that notifications are on and that any LED pulsing/blinking options are also enabled.
  4. Quickly scan your apps list to see if there are any other applications that may be affecting notifications, although these would usually show up under Accessibility Options in settings.

Beyond checking these -- and I realize you've already done most of these things at least once; I'm hoping to spark an idea for you or something -- I can't think of much to do. I had a similar problem with Google Voice and the notification LED, but I just uninstalled and re-installed and it sorted itself out.

Thanks for your suggestions! You were right, I did do all of those points several times already lol, but I had not uninstalled light flow as I thought I may end up being forced to use it. Anyway I uninstalled it and made sure settings were as close to default as I could remember.. and knock on wood, it has been working so far. Hopefully it will prove to be reliable as it was before it quit working suddenly. The only things I can think of that I installed around the time I noticed it quit working were swype beta and swift key 3. In settings I have also unchecked those so I can't choose from input method "on the fly". I'm not sure if these applications could have anything to do with it at all? Doesn't seem to me like they should and I haven't experimented yet turning them back on..just glad to have my light working for now lol. I will test soon however and report back if it does.. hopefully this kinda fixed itself though after i reinstalled GoSms and removed Light Flow like the problem you had mentioned with Google Voice.

Thanks again.

Of course, I'm glad you got it resolved. Light flow works by taking control of the LED on your phone (only apps enabled in Accessibility Options are able to do this in such a manner). My guess is that you had the Light Flow notification enabled for GoSMS, but had something set in Light Flow so that it didn't actually make the LED blink.

GoSMS was trying to turn on the LED, but Light Flow had control of it and wasn't doing it either.

I'm not so sure.. if I recall correctly the only reason I downloaded Light Flow in the first place was because the LED started acting up. Every time I was testing it I made sure that Light Flow under Accessibility options was turned Off and the program was not running in my app list so I'm not sure..it could have been still running somewhere, somehow though I suppose. Well, I gave it a few test runs with the other keyboards enabled and seems to be doing fine so far.. Again knock on wood.. I was really starting to believe they had something to do with it somehow lol. Guess I will keep my fingers crossed nothing randomly screws it up again..
