Punctuation in contact names

In my old Samsung Instinct HD, I used to write "(U.S.A.)" next to the name of my contacts who lived in the States (since I'm from Puerto Rico).

When I got my Shift, and transferred all my contacts, they stayed "(U.S.A.)".

But now when I try to add new contacts and type that into the Name field, it saves was "(U. S. A. )" with a space after each period. Is there any way around that? It looks weird and it bugs the **** out of me, plus it extends the name more than it already would be. I even tried copy/pasting the old space-less "(U.S.A.)" from the older contacts into the news ones, to see if maybe that would work, but no such luck. Help??

Thank you in advance!

The thing is, it is thinking those are part of middle and last names and breaking them up for you as proper names. So, just tap the little 'dots' next to the name box which will open all the individual name fields. Then place your U.S.A. trailer after the contact's last name in the Family Name field.
