Purchasing in-store or online?

When I got my DroidX I asked if I can just pay and leave, "Sorry sir its corporate policy I need to make sure the phone is set up and in working order"

Wow.. That really sucks. I think since its our phone, and we specifically ask to open and set it up ourselves they should let us. Im gonna pick one up in the store and Im gonna ask anyway...


Im starting to hate verizon more and more....

even though it will feel like a waste to move from my fascinate with ICS which is working so lovely, I am going to get the Nexus..

But I am going to go in store (corporate verizon store) first..and check it out.. aswell as purchase it in store (something ive never done) and my final requirement is that they allow bill to account, ive done bill to account as recently as the razr, and on several other phones.. my account has never had a late payment.. so the only problem ill have is if they arent putting this phone available for bill to account (i.e. iphone 4s)

What if you told them you intended to gift it to someone? I've been thinking about doing this, and telling them I want to handle activation and setup.

I'm really looking forward to buying it in-store, because when my mom bought my stepfather's tablet-shaped Christmas present on Black Friday we had a really nice sales rep who was also excited about Galaxy Nexus and it will be fun geeking out with someone, even if it's someone paid to get the phone in my hands and be super nice to me lol.

I'm a little torn about picking it up immediately at all though; I've talked to a couple different reps and tried to wheedle an early upgrade out of them, but it seems there is no budging. I'm gonna have to pay $90 early termination to get the phone now, or wait until March. Need to decide if 90$ is worth three months... though it would also put me on track to put my next upgrade during Black Friday, which could be nice. We'll see.

Just called Telesales and the guy gave me the canned answer of we have no info other then release by the end of the year. He also said it doesn't look like they are being given any preorder info.

My birthday is the week before Christmass and I will be walking into a local VZW store and buying one for myself. Happy Birthday to me!!!!

This will make up for all those times I got ripped off because my Birthday and Christmass are within a week of each other.!!!

I'll order online since I have google 2 step authentication (I'll need to generate a number on my desktop). I could probably do it ahead of time, but sometimes it doesn't go so smoothly

For me, what it comes down to is figures. I cant upgrade. So Ill be looking for the best cheapest way for me to get it. Even if its retail. Online or instore.

....My worry about getting a smartphone in the verizon store is that the store employees here are buttholes. They're condescending. Especially not being a white dude, I feel like some of them are actually racist.....

i usually stay away from the stores because they rarely are of or understand my religion or my ideological beliefs and do not share my morals or ethics..... and often are of a different race,,, and often are from a different culture,,, and often speak a different language,,,,

I'll buy the GN from a brick and mortar store. In fact, there is a corporate big red store in the largest mall in America not too far from where I work.
