After testing my new Nexus 4 against the iPhone and confirming that I was not getting email pushed to the N4 in a timely manner, I searched here, and found this thread , which brought to light the ARP bug in the Nexus 4, outlined here .
I thought this might be my problem, but for me, there is no greying of the bars when the phone wakes up. I have WiFi connectivity after the phone wakes up. I am still not clear if the bug outlined at the second post means that only Push Gmail is affected or whether people are experiencing problems using WiFI at all after their phones wake up.
I am at my wits end with the N4 and this push Gmail thing. I absolutely need instant email push and like I said, I have been doing continuous simultaneous tests at my home with the (mildly hated) iPhone and the N4, and the iPhone is getting emails pushed to it instantly when sent from my desktop, and when my friends send me test emails.
I don't really know where else to turn. I have tried everything listed in the first link above, and made sure the N4 settings are all correct. Can anyone suggest anything I haven't tried to get push Gmail working on this phone before I sell it? Or, is the problem I am experiencing actually related to the ARP bug, and in my case I just don't get the greying of the bars? To put it another way, could the ARP bug be affecting my post-wake WiFi connection only in terms of my pushed Gmail functionality?
