Put google play store on PAX A920

[Android Central Question]

Hey, everyone. This is my first time on this site. I don't have a lot of experience with android as I am more of an iphone guy.

I'm the manager for a podiatry practice and we bought a PAX A920 for taking payments because we thought it was a great device. The issue I am having with it is trying to get the google play store on it. Now, after a bunch of googling, I've found that PAX is very sketchy about allowing anything on their devices.

I thought I might be able to get some sort of workaround done by downloading the google play store's apk from the internet but the device doesn't have a web browser. Then I thought maybe I could enter dev mode but no matter what I try, I can't access dev mode. Tried booting into safe mode, but the device stalls on boot up.

The last idea I had was to put the apk onto a micro SD card and then put the sd card into the device (which you're supposed to be able to put an sd card in it to put music and stuff on there) but when I plug the sd card in, I can't find the sd card in the files app and when I go to settings, I press "Mount SD Card" but nothing happens.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Android Central! That device doesn't have Google Play Services preinstalled, so you'd have to install that somehow. I'm guessing that they lock the device down pretty tightly, probably for security considering that it's a point-of-sale device, so it may be difficult if not impossible to achieve. XDA-Developers would usually be the best resource for this kind of thing, but I can't find anything there about this device.

Is there not enough in that company's own "PAXSTORE" app store to supply your needs?
