Since the latest rumors running around are that the international version will be getting their 4.2 update Friday, how much longer will it take for the Carrier-Specific HTC One's to get the update?

There is no set length of time for anyone to tell you. Even if HTC ships the update to T-Mo and AT&T at the same time that does not mean they will push out their updates in the same day, week or month. Factors that influence the rollouts are injection of carrier branded software, device stability testing and network stability testing done at the carrier level.
Now that folks over at XDA have attained S-Off, this isn't as important to those of us willing to modify the devices to get an official version of the update. S-Off allows us to set the CID to all 1s and flash any stock firmware to our devices via the RUU file. This means my AT&T HTC One can become the Developer Edition in a few minutes if I so desire. When HTC rolls out the 4.2 update I could easily run the RUU and have the international or DE version of that on my device.

On a side note I will not be doing this. I'm extremely happy with the HTC One as it is. I feel that I won't utilize much of anything the update offers. Anything important that will come in the future will more than likely be pushed out via Play Services as we saw is possible at Google IO.

I'm sure that 4.2.2 has been in the carriers hands for a while now. Once the carriers deem it to be to their liking (adding their bloatware crap) then they will release it. Unfortunately, no one knows when that will be. I'm guessing it will be released before the GE goes live.

Regardless, I will not upgrade my phone until it's verified to be bug-free. As I recall, Sprint dorked the S2 up for a while, and Verizon flat ruined my S3 a few weeks ago with their newest update. While I'd like to have 4.2.2, 4.1.2 is working just fine.
