ok so i just bought the lg optimus Q for straight talk and i will be rooting it. my question is what is a "kernel" for? why should i get/install one? dose anyone know where i can download one with step by step instructions to install. any help will get thanked. thanks

The kernel tells your phone how to operate. It manages system operations and tells the hardware when and how to react... AndroidArea51.com is doing a lot of development on the Optimus Q. It's honestly the only site I've found for development for our phones outside of this one.
