it says that the people i'm trying to call are not qik users i dont know if they deleted qik or not.

there are 2 different types of QIK apps---

one is preinstalled on Evo's
and one that is available in the marketplace (Evo version is there, too--and will actually say that it is strictlythe Evo version;;;so download the one that is not stating that caveat)

download the app in the marketplace and then try calling your friend's that are not Evo owners.

got the qik from the mytouch rom dump working now needed to restart the phone and let it finish syncing. It sync's with your contacts and shows you who has Qik install same ways as Tango lets you know who is using the app

tried my second call next while at work today incoming calls with this app look completely deferent.
The phone rings like you are receiving a regular phone call and you get the stock looking sliders to answer or reject the call. Incoming calls are clear and work great much more usefull than the Sprint Qik or Qik from the market..
Don't know if i can post the APK file or not But you can just grab it from the Mytouch system Dump

Hi EVO users - we'll have an update available very soon that has the features that is being discussed here, such as:
- Being able to do conversational audio, no more push-to-talk
- Presence capabilities that automatically maps your address book to show who's online to video chat
- Seamlessly defaults to leaving a video mail if the other person is not available or ignores the call
- Ability to leave a video mail for users who are not online
- Integrated with the device in the way it handles incoming, outgoing calls, missed call notifications, etc.

Stay tuned...
- Bhaskar from Qik
