hello I currently have a optimus v running harmonia 2 and everything included new when i purchased the phone.I found a Motorola triumph on craigslist and the guys wants to trade his phone for a ov plus a little cash.what would you guys say is a fair cash offer plus my phone and do you think this is a good trade?are there any downfalls i should worry about?

I wouldn't buy a triumph used. They have had some hardware issues, and if you buy it used and something breaks you're screwed. Atleast if you buy one from an authorized reseller you get virgins 1 year warrenty, and the are really good about replacing broken hardware, even cracked screens

When trading n craigslist, meet in a public well lit area. Something like mcdonalds or starbucks that has free wifi. Make sure other people can see you.

TEST the device first, insist on testing it, if he doesn't let you test it then walk away. Check for damages make sure the powers on without dead pixels or boot loop. Check 3g if its activated wifi if it isn't. Be smart not just say ok i trust you

Check reviews at various places (and with several grains of salt). There were some on Amazon the said the Triumph had issues with GPS.

Why does he want to trade?

he doesnt just want to trade for no reason.

something is wrong with that triumph. its a better phone, theres NO reason he would want to trade. u never see that.

skip it. sell your OV directly and just buy a new triumph

I have read that early model Triumphs were hardware nightmares. It doesnt really make sense to me that they would suddenly get better, but apparently they have. I would worry that he has one of the older ones.

I have to agree with the above - this smells fishy - I love my OV, but bottom line it is an older lower end phone than the Triumph. Heck I just switched back to my OV from my Slider (for sale now in the marketplace) partly because of reminiscing and partly cuz I need some cash.

But a switch from the newest and best to one of last years models is odd.

If you do decide to go for this - I would give him $30 or so at most. I would go somewhere public with free wifi. I would call Virgin right then and make sure that the phone has a clean number that can still be activated. Then I would use it for at least 15 minutes on wifi - use BT, use GPS, plug in headpphones, play some youtube over headphones and the speakers, etc.

Basically a good test drive is in order. I have looked at the Triumphs and have held off mostly because of price and the GPS - which I have read and seen videos showing as a world class turd.

When you are figuring on a price to negotiate - remember that although he might have paid as much as $300 - the Triumph is available NEW on Amazon right now for $220 or so.

Do not give this person any money down over the net for any reason - do the deal with cash in person only.

I will leave you with an oldy but a goody - "if something seems too good to be true, it probably is"

Thanks alot guys.he wanted 100 for the trade...so it was a no go for me.i do love my ov and it has a great amount of support and development wich allows me to play ever so much more...lol
