Question about apps on tablet

Been a long time since I've been on here... I had been an Android phone user for a long time before a new job forced an Iphone on me. I also had an iPad a year or so ago that I no longer have. I'm looking into getting a Tab S 10.1 as I want to get back on Android, but have a question: I've seen/heard about the lack of tablet optimized apps for Android tablets and that they upscale the phone apps. Is this issue really that big of a deal in practice? How do games scale to the tablet? How about other apps?

I really want an Android, but don't want to drop this much money and find that the app selection/compatibility/useability isn't very good.

Thanks for your input!

If you use a lot of Netflix , big dev games like angry birds or etc then you should be fine. The upscale apps are better on android then iPad since the iPad google music app doesn't even get to full screen on my iPad .
