Question about carrier unlocking.

I just paid my AT&T branded v30 off so I'm getting it unlocked and going to try out TMO to see if service is just as good as AT&T in my area. My only question is, how are updated handled in that situation?

AT&T has a weird policy and differs from device to device. I had heard for a while that if you did not have an AT&T SIM in the phone, you may potentially not get an update.

Well... That kind of sucks. If I hadn't just spent $800 on this phone I'd just sell it and buy something unlocked then. But I don't have the patience to do so. Guess I'll just take my chances. And may even upgrade next year or something.
