Has anyone else ordered a Droid from Wirefly? I may have made a mistake by doing so. It should be arriving today. The phone was much cheaper and the activation fee will be waived on my 2nd or 3rd bill. I'm a bit nervous about opening the box.
Their "no more than 30 minutes of use" refund policy makes no sense. I asked an agent in live chat how I would know whether or not the phone is defective if I don't use it more than 30 minutes. I was told that I could still return it for a refund as long as it's within the 30 day trial period, and if I don't want to keep the phone/contract, I'll have to cancel service with Verizon within 14 days.
If I purchased the phone at a local store, I would be given a 30 day trial. I also heard that if I have problems with the phone, I'll have to send it to Wirefly rather than take it back to the store for another phone. This bothers me because if I send it back, I'll be without a phone for the length of time it takes them to send me a new one.
My first Droid was defective (I think). I thought the issue was Verizon's coverage area because people were telling me they couldn't hear me during phone calls. They also said I was "breaking up" sometimes. I was being kicked off the Internet, too. I decided to take it back for a refund and have the contract waived. Then I got an iPhone with AT&T. Their coverage is terrible!
I'm still on my 30 day trial with AT&T so I won't have a problem sending my phone back for a refund.
I forgot to mention that I have to keep a $59.99 voice plan with the Wirefly discount for 181 days. That's not really a problem since I need the extra minutes...unless I get stuck with a phone that doesn't work.
Should I send it back unopened and buy it at the store? It's $50 more and I'll have to pay the $35 activation fee, plus the extra $100 up front. I'm not sure how long it takes to get the mail in rebate. I could order the phone from Verizon's site for an instant discount but the site hasn't been working very well.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Here's the return policy I'm referring to: https://www.whereismyorder.com/SatisfactionGuarantee.aspx?referringpartner=wirefly#1
