So after reading a while back about the FroYo update that its better to disable Google's own data backup to prevent any latent issue regarding bad data or outdated data. So, everytime i update my rubiX ROM to the latest release, i've been making sure to uncheck all those boxes about data backup and restore, and i'm left to use AppBrain to figure everything out for me, which is certainly a hassle for 150+ apps 10 at a time.
The most recent update i chose to live life on the edge and i checked off those "data backup" boxes about an hour before deciding to update to rubiX 1.9 to let the backup cache build up on google's servers, and then proceeded with installing the rom and clearing data/cache. When i booted up my market was filled with all my apps and immediately started downloading me to where i was before. it was glorious!
Ignoring the possibility of the glitches and FC's that may occur due to my Google backup, I want to leave those backup settings checked off to make this smooth as pie the next time i update my ROM. Complicating everything is the 2.3.340 OTA update that came a few weeks ago. I know I need to SBF and update manually and then root it, and ROM it again. It's an all-day affair.
My real question is this: How long does Google's server hang on to that backup cache? If i have mine set to backup now, SBF it, OTA upgrade it, then root it and then install the ROM, when i finally log into the ROM, will it pull my google backup settings and install all my apps for me? My hope is this, as long as when i SBF and OTA upgrade i dont actually log into my google account, when i finally get to the ROM loading, i log in and it should all work.
Any input?
Thanks.
Mark
