People keep saying Motoblur is awful or bad, but I never used a droid yet(I am getting one). What is the problem with Motoblur?

If you are worried about it being on the X, it is not!! The X only has some features from blur but does not run blur!!!

The X doesn't have Moto Blur....

Yeah, its not motoblur, its ninjablur. Haha, kidding.

Its bassically stock android with some Motorola style tweaks.

Motoblur is a social congregation ui for the phone, its extremely CROWDED, but its not on the X, so don't worry about it.

Well I already knew X didn't have Motoblur, I just wanted to know why people hated it? But thanks for the info

Some of the guys around here have just heard that so many times, the second someone calls it Motoblur, they jump in and let you know not to call it that. It's almost like dropping an F-Bomb around here :)

Anyway back to you question... I think the consensus is that in prior devices, it was very intrusive, childlike, and there was no way to turn it off. You were also forced to sign up for a remote account.

The advantage to the new Motorola widgets and the skinned dialer, is that you do not have to use the widgets if you don't want to. They are widgets that Motorola threw in to add value to the user experience. I personally think there are widgets in the market that are better, so I probably won't use the Moto ones. When you first boot up your device, for the first time, all the screens will have these widgets, and those that you don't like can be dragged to the trash. So in summary, Motoblur (in prior devices) got a bad wrap because it just plain sucked in many peoples minds.

Just curious, have you used it before? I do have at least one friend that has it on their device and actually likes it, so I shouldn't say everyone thinks the way I said above.

In addition to what Cory said, too many people have heard from others that Motoblur is bad and just carry on the reputation without trying it for themselves. I work with a guy who has the Backflip which runs Blur and he loves it. He let me toy with it and while I don't think its a bad idea I do think the widgets crowd the screen a lot and could potentially be useless but the same could be said about Sense.

So dont listen to the casual poster as much as finding what you like. One man's loss could be another man's gain.
