Are the magazines that come with the Nexus 7 a one year subscription or is that the only issue we get? Also is the transformers movie that comes with the tablet stored online? I tried to play it through my cell phone hotspot but it couldn't play in HD due to bandwidth which I thought was weird because I figured the movie would be loaded onto the memory. Is every movie that we would get from the play store stored on some online server?

With music the songs are online unless you use a PC to download them. You can make songs available offline in the music app but you have to select them and choose that.

Movies are probably online only as they require DRM that the music doesn't.

Thanks. I'm not familiar with google music and i'm not sure if i'm going to use it. Maybe i'll try it but it seems kind of pointless because you can only listen to music when you're in a wifi area? I might as well just load the songs straight to the internal hard drive.

The movie is online. However, you can cache it offline.Go to the play movies app, and on the list of movies, the ones you own have a thumb tack on the bottom right. Tap that, and it will "pin" it to your device, meaning it downloads it. You can stream while it downloads. Note, this is the same for books, music, and magazines as well. They are, by default, in the cloud. However, you can pin them to your device in the same method. With music, it automatically pins recently played songs for a certain period of time. Not sure about the others.

The magazines are single issues I believe.

nope you can make them available offline without the need to be downloaded into your device.

I appreciate the quick help, i'm not new to android but I know nothing about using cloud. So if i make media such as the magazines available offline will they take up memory which I would later have to delete to get that space back?

With music as was said before you can allow "caching". Google doesn't give a lot of detail but it stores a fair amount of songs that are listened to regularly. It does take up space but it should maintain itself as well so that it doesn't grow too large.

Books and magazines should be tiny since they can be heavily compressed.

I wondered about this since I've never done a movie through GP, and only getting the 8.
