Question about setCPU and how it works.

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, (forgive me if so...) but I've recently rooted and installed EvilEris to my wife's Eris. I have also installed setCPU cause it's not already with this ROM. It works excellent except one problem we've been seeing with it and thats is it just keeps losing phone calls all of a sudden. It'll hang up and she'll have to pull the battery out to restart it.

now to my question, what is some roundabout percentages that I should set the setCPU to? I'm pretty sure its doing this cause it might be overheating a tad, so I'm just looking at some pointers on whats a good starting point and what to look for, as I am still pretty novice to some of this.

thanks for any info.

Well, let me first say that I am not an expert at this, at all. But, this is how I set up SetCPU on my Eris:

Maximum: 710400
Minimum: 245760

In profiles, I have three set up.

Charging/Full: 528 Max, 245 Min
Screen off (I think that this used to be sleep): 480 max, 245 min
Temp threshold (this used to be failsafe): Temp > 40C, 480 max, 245 min

I have the charging clock set down because I never have it charging while I am actively using it, and I figure that the battery temp is getting up there from charging that overclocking might push it.

With these settings, I haven't missed a phone call or a notification. I do know that some people push higher than 710, but I think that the Eris is fast enough at 710 max that it's not worth the risk of overclocking too much.

Oh, one more thing. Under advanced, I have the following settings:

sampling rate: 2000000
up threshold: 60
ignore nice load: 0
powersave bias: 200

which version are you using? I seen there were a few different ones to choose from on XDA.

thanks for the info and help!

I'm actually using the latest version that is in the market - I think that it is 2.0.0c. However, I think that there are equivalent settings even in the pre-2.0 versions. Look under "Profiles" and activate them; look under "Advanced" for that second part. I understand that the powersave bias is the important one of those four settings.

Thanks Doogald. I just finally rooted last night and getting it all set up. I take it you left it all on-demand for both the main and the profiles? And to make sure I read it write you added a 0 to sampling rate to make it 2000000 and didn't accidently type another 0 when posting?

Yes to both questions. I basically got all of this info from the xda-developers forum for the Eris, with a little bit of experimenting on my own for the cpu rates that work best for me.
