I don't think the texts are included in the data plans. I would just call verizon and ask them just to be sure.
The text and talk plans I believe allow you to send/receive texts from anyone on any network at no cost. The talk plans are just that, talk only. So if you do any texting, you probably want the text and talk one. Texting will rack up quick on ya.
Remember, both come with unlimited nights and weekends, so depending on when you use your phone most, 450 minutes may be enough. Plus its unlimited calling within the verizon network.
I would suggest option 2. Watch your minutes the first month, and if you think you might go over, or you go over, call them and change your plan to the 900 minute plan and bite the bullet on the extra $20 at least for that month. You have to do it before your billing cycle ends though, so be aware. Usually if your over minutes by a great amount, doing this will be cheaper than paying the bill straight out. Been there, done that.
