Hey. Can someone who already has one answer a question for me please. What is the power output of the phone's wall charger? I am interested in both voltage (which I expect is 5V) and amperage. Thanks.

HTC OEM

EVO 4G Wall Charger
Model: TC U250
Input: 100-240V~200mA 50-60Hz
Output: 5V === 1A

(5 Volt, 1 Amp)

Sprint OEM

Chargers & Batteries for the HTC? EVO™ 4G

Micro-USB Travel Charger - Item # PRX8841_C
$34.99

Micro-USB Vehicle Power Charger - Item # PVX8721R_C
$34.99

Rugged Micro-USB VPA - Item # PVX1414V_C
$39.99

On a side note, this phone simply doesn't get hot, even plugged in with a heavy load. It's truly a "cool" phone. And plugged into the car, it gains fairly rapidly on the battery charge percentage, even under heavy load.

I emailed a guy on eBay selling this charger for $19.99 new (Sprint retail is $39 before Premier discount, $34 online). I asked him what the output voltage and amps were. he responded:
____
I looked on the back of one and it shows:
Input: AC 100-240V 0.3A 50/60Hz
Output: 5V--850mA
____

link to his listing is at Sprint Micro-USB Travel Charger PRX8841 PRX8841R - eBay (item 190365406392 end time Jun-14-10 10:19:57 PDT)

has anyone found the HTC OEM charger available for sale?

i just bought 2 of the OEM Sprint wall travel chargers from Sprint.com. great quality.

You can charge it with that one, by the way. As long as it's 1 amp or lower, and 5 volts, it's fine. Just note that the lower the amperage is, the slower it will charge (and once you get below ~500ma, you may only break even, that is, not even charge).

<<using the Pre's wall chargers. Love the recessed bubbled on the tip telling you what is up/down. Great for plugging in the phone in a dark place (BTW, the port on the EVO is reversed than that of the Palm Pre). I also like the fact that it is almost 2x longer than the 2cm cable that came with the EVO. WTF!

true .. i was hoping it was 1A. oh well.

Update: I went to the Sprint store today at lunch and the charger mentioned above does not output 1A, it outputs 850mAh. They don't even sell one that goes higher than that.

Looks like I'm going to be cracking this one open and doing a little soldering, since there isn't a USB charger on the market that the EVO will see as an AC charger, instead of USB connection.
