Should I download the individual Facebook or Twitter apps to get more current posts or rely on the links in Flipboard? Hope Ben Stein is online. Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone have an answer?

Honestly, try using Flipboard. The Facebook app is by far the worst "mainstream" app to ever grace the Android ecosystem. It's slow, generally laggy, highly under-developed, sucks a lot of battery and is exceptionally frustrating. If anything, use the browser/Chrome for it.

Twitter's not bad at all, though.

Thanks very much for answering my question. I am new to Android coming from having owned six berries. I only asked because I watching the news this morning and supposedly a topic was being posted on both Facebook and Twitter that I did not see in Flipboard which is loads better than the BB OS 7 Social Media app.

Is it a free or paid application?

I also use friend caster and I would easily recommend it to anyone. There is a free and paid version, the only difference is the free version has ads.

I use the paid version! they did a great job, so i was happy to pay for it...........I really missed that app when i had the iPhone.....glad thats over!

Just remember that the third part apps don't pick up all people's status updates and such depending on their privacy. In personally use both the main Facebook app and Friendcaster. (use flipboard in ioad)

I just found an option to set the refresh time. Mine is set to one hour, I don't need to be kept abreast of social media that often...
