Question on "Global"

Monday I was in an area that had absolutely no service for a good bit of time. The phone had a pop up message asking me if I would like to activate Global. I declined because I was concerned about the charges that may be incurred by doing that. I really dont know much about that function and figured it was like "roaming" and would cost more for reception. Am I correct?

I would have thought this was a fairly easy question. No offense to here, but does anybody know of the most active Android forum? I'm new to the online Android world and am looking for where most people converse. Thanks!

Sorry no one has answered you... I have been out most of the day so I just got to this question. From my understanding if you are in the States you really cannot use the GSM or "Global" settings. Since the sim card that is in your phone I am guessing is still Vodafone they only work in other countries. Not only that you want to check what Vodafone would be charging you for such as per minute use as well as data. From what I hear it could be pretty hefty. I hope this helped.
