question on messages force closing

My messages always force closes probably every time I use it, and not the messages widget, I don't use that. When I open my messages and reply to someone it works fine, but when I hit back to respond to another person it lags for quite a while and finally force closes. I will open my messages again and the screen is black and the only thing showing is the 'compose message' option, after getting tired of waiting for it to load for a minute I close my messages and reopen it, but it still lags for a few more seconds. Overall it is very annoying because I can't respond to someone and then go back to respond to another person.

I have cleared my cache/data and set my message delete limit to 200, but the force closing and lagging continues.

If anyone else has this problem or knows a solution I would be very appreciated!!

I have this problem as well that's why I'm on the search for a new SMS app. I wish I knew a solution because this annoys the crap out of me.

I had that issue all day sunday and got sick of it. i use the Handcent SMS app now, and I love it. Kinda has a iPhone format feel, but is fully customizable, and has pop up notifications and all. I like it so far.

coming from using my droid 1 from launch date ive always used handcent and love it. when i got the TB i wanted to try out the stock SMS app but i had this same problem. force closing/laggy/etc... i went back to handcent and i never looked back. just grab handcent or GoSMS.. you wont regret it
