No offense to the EVO owners.. I had one, it's a awesome device, however,

why are alot of sites saying the EVO is the fastest, highest end Android phone available?

It's a 1ghz Snapdragon running an ATI GPU (Adreno 200) which is slower than the PowerVR SGX series..

It's obviously not the highest end device, as the Galaxy S devices are.

EVO DOES have the best features of any device, but I am not sure it's qualified to be the highest end device available..

aside from the front facing camera, I would say the Droid X or the AT&T Captivate would be the highest end devices out right now..

Number crunching goes to Snapdragons. Though this is not entirely true either.
Graphics goes to the other two.

A lot of websites don't know what they're talking about. To be honest, I could do a better job of reporting Android news than most other websites.

AndroidCentral and AndroidAndMe do a great job. The latter shows more benchmarks like 3d stuff and whatnot... so it's good to see exactly what device you want based on what it can do.

In my opinion, a lot of devices are at a draw depending on what you do. There isn't flash/front facing camera on most Galaxy S Devices.
The Droid X doesn't have a kickstand/front facing camera.
The Evo has a kickstand, but front facing camera is... then again limited from Evo to Evo.
Evo is the only one with 4g. Droid X and Galaxy S devices win in terms of the screen.

So all these devices have win-lose situations.
The best device to grace us whenever it is released will be the Samsung Epic 4g. It has that Super Amoled screen, front facing cam, 4g, slide out keyboard for those who like it, high end graphics... etc.

Though to be honest, for regular users, high end graphics doesn't make THAT much of a difference. What? They can't run like 2-3 games on the market.
The 30fps cap is more of an issue than a crappy Adreno GPU.

Whoa, went off on a tangent there... I learned a lot about device hardware after getting the Evo... such as GPU things like fill rate matters more than triangles/second.

@Kedar: Yes, but the Samsung Epic 4G is based on the Galaxy S.. :)

it's marketing... the commercials still run for original droid saying it's the best phone out there doesn't mean it's true.... same goes for infomercials........

I'm not talking about commercials though.. I'm talking about internet sites that do benchmarks between the EVO and other devices.. they always tout the EVO as being the highest end device.
