question regarding wi fi

i am from Canada and i am thinking of getting this phone, new to Androids
my question is, the plan that i would get from Telus is Canada only. if i go to the USA, can i put the phone on wifi only and not get charged for roaming?

yes wifi is separate from cellular s no roaming. if you find you need cellular once here check out readysim
