Questions about the 7 plus

I've had my SGT7+ for a month now after returning my Nook Tablet. I've not had a single SOD experience to date. Before getting my Tab I lurked in the XDA forums for a long time and read everything posted about SOD. A lot I didn't understand technically, of course, but there seemed to be two common threads of agreement regarding WiFi behavior during sleep and SD media cards So the first app I loaded on my Tab was Auto Airplane Mode (Don version). Secondly, I bought a 16gb ScanDisk class 6 card and formatted it on my laptop using SDFormatter 3.1. I have not rooted my Tab since I'm satisfied with it stock. Did these things help? I don't know.

Also, I've thought of getting the 8.9 but have been put off by the size and slightly extra weight. I use my Tab primarily for reading books and PDFs with some surfing and email. The SGT7+ is portable, fast, smooth, etc., etc.

Thanks for the info. The SOD is really the only issue I have and if I could make it go away for good, we'd have a winner. I like the price and that I can get a screen protector and case for it for under $400. It's worth it to me to have the additional functionality while still being able to read books with it. I have a 16g SD card from my old DX, would you recommend formatting it on the laptop first before installing? And is that SDFormatter 3.1 a free app I can find on the internet?

I've not decided completely yet, still have a couple other items that I need to sell, but thanks again!

Everything that I've read over at XDA suggests that you should format the card on your PC. Definitely not using the native formatter with the card mounted. Yes, SDFormatter 3.1 is free.

I actually like the form factor of the Plus which is why I currently trying to work my way through the wifi dropping issues. The tablet will report that is connected to wifi (wifi icon and through settings) but the device has dropped itself from the network. The access point is good, wifi connection is strong, and other devices are maintaining connection. Very strange "bug" - I have seen other people experiencing the same problem but no fix (router changeouts, static IP's, reboots, factory resets, etc). Trying my third Plus... fingers crossed...

I had this happen when I first got my SG7.0 and found that setting my router wireless mode from "Mixed" to "b/g Mixed" fixed the issue. Of course that effectively turns off wireless "n", but I didn't see a measureable drop in WiFi speeds on any of my devices (except one streaming HD video).

Then a few weeks ago I upgraded to a new Dual band router (Asus RT-N56U) and it seems to now work fine in "Mixed" mode with the SG7.0. I guess apparently this is an issue only with certain routers...

Ah, who knows :p

As a book reader, its a good 2nd option in my opinion to e-ink. the killer feature indeed would be the ability to run the ebook apps out there like aldiko (decent but only good feature that it has that the others don't is the ipad looking bookshelf), fb reader (all around clean with good texture paper and color options), cool reader (the one reader that has two page landscape like an ipad though its quite small some peeps like that), and my favorite being moon reader (which has auto-scroll. if you don't know what that is, install it and press the screen then the play button at the bottom and then toggle with the volume buttons. amazing. perfect for nighttime no hands reading in bed. good times)

...as for the dolphin browser, its most definitely hands above the crappy samsung browser in regard to speed, bookmarks use, and general flow. tap for more tabs up top, go to the top and it automatically highlights the url so you can just type something in without backspace, and most important, it has the ability to be used in "desktop" option if you like your pages like espn in full glory.

I just purchased my tab 7 plus a week ago. I love the nook pp on this device, it works quite well. I'm still learning how to use this device, I've been using an iPad for 2 years now. I'm looking or apps to add to my new gadget.:):)

Just purchased mine on Friday and I have been highly satisfied with it so far. It's my first tablet...so my expectations are low. :D It definitely fits the bill for what I needed, though. Have a netbook but found it annoying to use at meetings or public settings where I'm standing.
