I spoke to Google support from the phone and they told me the phone is under warranty and will be supported by Google, if anything goes wrong.

As to Google photos, I don't think I got unlimited photo backup but I am not sure exactly where to look to confirm. It still says that I can upload original photo size up to my Google drive limit. Compressed are unlimited but that's true for everyone.

Open the Photos app and check the backup settings. The unlimited backup is for the device... No matter how many times it gets sold... It'll allow for free storage until the window closes.
