Pressing the power button doesn't quick open the camera. What am I doing wrong?

Assume you have the option on under settings>system>gesture>quickly open camera?

Yes it's set to ON. I've tried all types of clicks, very quick, slow clicks. None opens the camera.
If my memory is OK, I seem to remember having this problem when I first bought the Pixel 3. Advice then was to REINSTALL the system. I opted not to REINSTALL then and I had hoped that 3 years later, after many updates, the problem would have gone away.
I have lived without it for 3 years and I will continue without it.
Thanks for the suggestion.

What happens when you double click the power button?

Odd! I'm still on the Pixel 3 and I've never had an issue with the quick camera launch ...

Maybe there's a third party app causing conflict. Have you tried it in safe mode?

Have you tried it in Safe Mode yet, as suggested by YankInDaSouth?

Sounds like a possible hardware issue??? Did you ever reach out to Google Support when the phone was still under warranty?

Does the phone vibrate when you do the double press? Any issues when you open the Camera app by tapping the app icon (e.g., really slow opening)?

No vibration and the app works great when opening the camera with the icon.
I have used the Assistant often when I need a quick picture.

I wonder if there's an issue with the Power button itself. Not sure how to test it, though.

Are any Accessibility features turned on that use the Power button? If so, try turning them off, in case they're interfering.

I had only one. POWER BUTTON ENDS CALL. I turned it off but it still doesn't work.

Does your Power button feel sticky or mushy when you press it? Try cleaning it out with some rubbing alcohol.

So far, I haven't had any problems with the Power button. I thought that perhaps I was not pressing the power button properly. I spent more than enough time with clicking at different speeds, to no avail.
Thanks again for your patience and determination.

Can try reset the camera by long pressing the camera app then tap info >scroll to storage clear its data then force stop it
