I have recently come from the BB world and loved having the Quick Launch app on my phone. Does anyone know of a similar solution for an Android phone?

I'm not sure there's anything exactly like Quick Launch, but using a 3rd party Android launcher like ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro lets you make custom shortcuts to any app or activity. Also, there's a free app called AnyCut that'll let you set up the same type of custom shortcuts on the default TouchWiz launcher.

You could dedicate a home screen to just your desired shortcuts. Like I said, not exactly like Quick Launch, but it would accomplish the same task.

Another alternative is to place a folder in your icon dock at the bottom. You could put all your frequently used icons in the folder, and with the folder in the dock, it would be accessible from any screen. Works on ADW EX, I would assume it would work on LP as well. Not sure about stock TouchWiz.

I actually use Go Launcher which I LOVE as it enables you to make folders in the app dock. There are a ton of other features too that I like. But I never thought about doing what you suggested. I think I will either make a folder on my home screen and put in all my frequently used functions.

thanks!

What did you ever come up with Sushi? Did you find something that compares to the usefulness of QuickLaunch? I had a HTC Hero but went back to a BB Bold for 2 reasons, QuickLaunch and the fact that you couldn't set up sound profiles like you could on BB. And of course the hero was not a very good phone, the dialer lag made me want to injure someone.

Thanks

there is nothing compared to quicklaunch.

I also came from the world of BB, a storm II actually.

You are probably going to miss BerryBuzz also.

Back in January I discovered Go Launcher and I have never looked back. It has amazing customization capabilities and allows me to have access to everything I need. FYI. I only have one "home screen". I do not like to scroll back and forth between screens.

Go Launcher is the best......i tried LauncherPro twice and hated it more each time. Scrolling Docks is GREAT !

I may just have to mess with my friends Droid X and try out some of the Launchers. Thanks for the input! Is there anything that offers profile control that is even in the ballpark of what blackberry offers?

I've tried all the launchers but always go back to TW. Others may have some cool features that I wish TW had, but they all seem to lack one core item or another. I prefer TW with 1 home screen. Beautiful Widgets lets me quickly access weather, clock, and calendar apps. I have my apps in grid view. First page is everything I use most frequently, 2nd page is additional utility apps, 3rd page is games, and 4th is just extras I need to have on the phone but don't need to open directly (BLN Control, Clock, Calendar, etc.)
