Quick question about Android wear version on the phone vs watch

I just noticed an update on my phone saying Android Wear app has an update. I updated it but when I go into my LG Watch Urbane 2nd edition under settings>about>versions. The version number on my phone is not the same as the one on my watch.

Shouldn't those match? It makes me think that my LG watch isn't using the latest version of Android wear or am I wrong?

Nope, the app and the OS version on the watch don't necessarily match. Just like OS's on a phone, your watch needs to be updated to newer versions and that's done directly on the watch, not with the app. You can check if there's an update on the watch from the watch's software version settings.
