quick question about backed up roms

Hey guys im going to play with some other roms and ws curious when i make back ups of roms does that save everything apps/contacts/etc? I know how to make the backups but ive never had to load one!

You're referring to a Nandroid backup (CWM Recovery), correct? In short, yes. It's an exact copy of your phone's system at the time of the backup, including all data and settings.

It's similar to creating an image backup of a Windows computer system.

Still always a good idea to back up just your data periodically using Titanium or MyBackup as well, in my opinion.

Ok I'm new to this romming thing. Let's say bamf relases a new update to there sense 3.0 port and seeing that usaly when k flash a rom u have to do a factory reset when I finish flashing is there a way in cwr to restore all my data and apps with all the app data. Or should I be using a app to do this

The backup/restore feature in CWR (Nandroid) is for doing FULL system backups (ROM + Apps + data + settings). As I mentioned, it's similar to a full image backup. Therefore, it's not for restoring apps and settings when you install a new ROM...what it is good for is let's say that install the newest BAMF ROM, but you find that there are too many bugs and you want to go back to the last ROM you were running -- presto! Just restore the nandroid backup you made of you last ROM.
