is it known yet that having lot of watchfaces apps and other apps drain the battery quicker like on your phone.

Apps don't drain (much) battery unless there's a bug or the sync settings are not properly tuned. Same with the watch: how many notifications you get, plus the amount of time the screen is on affects battery. Actually an annoying thing is I would like for some apps to run in the background, like Google Keep, so I can keep an eye on my task list without restarting the app everytime the screen turns off.

I have a number of apps and watch faces installed and have not noticed any battery difference.
With ambient mode on I get through the day of 17 hours with about 20 to 25% remaining.
With ambient mode off so far today as a test I am 12 hours into the day and have 66% left.

I use mine for work every day (about 8.5 hours). I have a lot of apps and a ton of faces, on average I'm at 72% almost every night.
