Quiet ring/notifications.

I just picked this phone up but am having serious issues with the volume of the ring and notifications. There's been several times where I have gotten texts with the phone in my pocket, volume maxed, and didn't even hear it. What makes it worse is that if you lay the phone on its back, which you would do unless you want to scratch the screen, everything becomes even worse if not inaudible. I've even gone as far as to download ringtones which are supposed to be louder and they don't help.


Is anyone else noticing this? Considering trading for Note2 because of this issue alone.

There are several of us who have noticed this, as mentioned in other threads. I played around with the various options for ringtones and found one that will do, though I have still missed a call or two with volume set at max. Tried multiple volume or speaker boost apps with no audible improvement noticed for ringtone, alarm or speakerphone, unfortunately.

I figured out the speaker volume was quite muffled, sometimes to completely inaudible, when phone is laid down on soft surface (so that speaker is covered completely) within 3 days. Spoke to HTC about it and there is no fix; back of phone, in this regard, was poorly designed by them (the person I spoke with admitted it to me). You can getter better sound amplifacation for times phone is sitting face up on a surface by putting some type of case or shell on that raises the back even just a hair (the verizon one works best so far in my experiments as some of the silicone ones just make the seal over speaker even more airtight). I emailed the people at seido and asked them to consider this issue as they develop their cases.

I am out of my 14 day window to return now. Went to Verizon store today to compare my device to theirs, and it was the same in regards to volume. So they said there is not much I can really do. I love this phone otherwise, so I will make do, I guess. I keep saying I do not like being as connected to the rest of the world sometimes, and now I am not. :-!
