It doesn't look like TouchWiz has a built-in quick dial/favorite contacts widget where you can store 6-8 of your most common calls for one push dialing.

What is everyone's favorite app for this?

I like Android Pro Widgets. Even the free version is nice.

Our app, Sign let's you assign a customizable gesture to any contact which you can use to call or text them directly.

It isn't a one-touch option, but if you include Sign on your dockbar, you can call it up and enter a gesture extremely quickly. Plus, its much less prone to inadvertent/accidental calls that can occur when you have a widget with direct dial icons.

In addition, it has some other features including:
  • Adjustable call confirmation
  • No Call Log after calls are ended
  • Haptic feedback lets you know if a gesture has been correctly recognized
  • Quick Startup lets you launch Sign from the notification bar even if other applications are open

Here's the free version if you want to give it a try:

Sign Lite

It currently only allows three (3) contacts, but we are working to make it unlimited in the next update.

Android Pro Widgets people widget here with my "favorites" group selected.

For each person in the widget you can choose whether click launches the contact badge, direct dial, direct SMS, or brings up the contact.

yes i discovered if you go under applications then widgets there is a contact icon you can put on your screen

I just have a shortcut to my Contact List. Then I tap on Favorites. I miss the widget but this is only two taps so I can live with it.

I would just use the Direct Dial widget. That way I could put my wife and work boss on my home screen and a few others on other screens based on importance and frequency.

This is a pretty good option, but I don't think it allows you to give a custom order to all the favorites. Wish you could configure it to open in the favorites screen, then you would essentially have the widgit on your home screen while only taking up the space of one spot.

I use the pay version of Android Pro Widgits ($2.50), which has a customizable favorite contacts widgit that very similar to the HTC Sense widgit. It also has a the ability to launch full contacts (which the HTC widgit inexplicably lost).

I use "Circle Launcher". I made a small "dot" icon on my homescreen which launches my family contacts.
