Qustions about apps.

As a nooB, I have a couple of questions about using apps. First, I installed the Android Central app. using Google Play, then when I went to the app drawer
the AC icon was not there even though GP said it was installed. I thought I would go ahead and uninstall the app then try to reinstall, that did not work either
as I got a error message saying "Uninstall request failed. Please try again later". I have tried this several times over a period of 45 minutes and still no luck,
any suggestions?

Second question, Am I to assume that the system installed apps cannot be uninstalled? I tried getting rid of some of the "bloatware" but with no success. Any
help will be greatly appreciated. BTW, I Luv This Forum!!!!

Sadly no, bloatware put on your phone from Rogers, AT&T, Telus, etc can't be uninstalled. It can be disabled though to save memory.

As for your first problem, try going into your Installed Apps list, clicking on the app you installed and click uninstall from there. (If you didn't already.) Or you can try uninstalling it from Google Play itself.

It was finally installed, it took awhile and the icon is now displayed.
