Radio and Speed Comparison with Other Phones

I started my 4GLTE smartphone experience with the HTC Thunderbolt. The phone provided good speed over 3G, but dropped signal frequently, and speeds maxing out for me at under 30mbps. I then moved to the HTC Rezound, Droid Razr Maxx, Galaxy S3, all had good radios, the Droid Razr Maxx being probably slightly better than the other two, but not by much. Max speed on those devices that I saw was about 61mbps.

I recently got the Note II, and it seems that the radio set is excellent, and imo, better than my Droid Razr Maxx. This morning I was able to hit 64mbps, the fastest speed I have seen so far. Obviously peek speeds are one thing, but the important thing is that everything loads quickly in moderate signal areas. In marginal areas, I notice the Note II providing better radio stability than my previous phones, i.e. less drops. Overall, I am very happy with the phone's performance.

Just curious what others experienced, radio wise, compared to other phones that you may have. If you are comparing to other carriers, please state so.

I have had Motorola for some time and so has my wife, there is a dead area near the house where we always lost signal. Since getting the GN2 I can drive by the same area without drops. My wife upgraded from the Droid2 to the Iphone 5 (big mistake) and she still drops call in the dead zone. We recently traveled from Montana to Missouri and the GN2 consistently outperformed the fruitphone. This is by far the best phone I have owned, and I have owned many. I am on Verizon.

While I was in Vermont over the weekend I had a little thing go on. We all had no service and then the people with iphones had a bar and were to make a successful call to a bionic. A person with the S3 had no service and wasn't able to make a call. It got me thinking that moto and apple seem to have better radios than samsung. This is just IMHO.

Just as an FYI all the phones were on Verizon.

May depend on the phone too. My Note II has better signal that my RAZR hd Maxx but the original RAZR Maxx was a little better than the Note II.

I would be curious as to how easily and promptly the Note II connects to established WI-FI . On my Stratosphere I, I have to frequently turn off Wi-FI and then turn it back on for it to connect, especially with my Cisco E3000 router. Otherwise it scans, tries to connect then reverts to scanning. IF I turn off the phone's WI-FI it connects up quickly. I will be getting a Note II in a couple of months. Thanks
