Radio Shack activated to Me the Only Galaxy Nexus they had THEN!

Basically I called a really small Radio Shack store to ask if they had the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon, The lady, unfamiliar with the device, stated that they only received 1 in the system, I stated I'm on my way & she stated she would Hold for me.
1. Get to store & give my name
2. They go pull the phone from the back
3. Opens it up & calls Verizon to activate (I got nervous)
4. Verizon rep walked them thru the activation & disconnected (Now I'm anxious)
5. Radio Shack would not let me hold til it was paid for (I took a pic of me holding when he walked away)
6. Get to the point of scanning barcode to check out and...
7. Message on computer says "Do Not Sale" & would not proceed further
8. I was pissed, but the manager placed my name & "Reserved For" on the box due to their mistake.
9.She stated they will call me as soon as they have permission to sell & that would be the only 1 they receive as well.

Pics are attached & I am willing to give that reserved Nexus to someone due to Radio Shack not allowing to Bill to my Verizon account, they require payment up front.

Memphis, Tn store location/ 5066 Park Ave/ (901) 761-5460 & you can call and attempt to purchase just to prove this story is legit & their only 1 is reserved.

I think at this point, you are basically looking for a needle in a haystack. Seems like most sellers' systems and employees are up to speed on the fact the phone cannot be sold yet. You're just adding to your frustration and anxiety by driving around hoping to get lucky. But if you're bored and want to occupy some time, go for it

Yeah I know what you mean. I dunno if its worth that much extra cash to me to get it early, because I'm sure corporate stores will be cheaper on full retail. We'll see how bored I get though.

I had a similar experience. I drop by this small RadioShack and ask if they had the Galaxy Nexus, both sale guys immediately said "yes we do" so I ask if I could take one and they said yes right away. One goes to the back and comes back with the phone in hand and tells me "I've been waiting to activate one of this phones. Then we go trough the process online at the RadioShack/Verizon web portal, he double check that I can get a discount (check), goes to replace the phone (check, no problem), then he get's my credit card/drivers license and is about to charge when the other sales person (a girl this time) was on the phone with some one from Verizon helping her with an iPhone and she ask the guy helping me if he had a question to the Verizon person and passes the phone to him.... so he proceed to the tell the Verizon person that his about to sell a Galaxy Nexus and if he has to do anything else besides the system and charge for the phone when the person at the end of the line tells him (and I heard what he said pretty loud)... YOU GUYS CAN'T SELL ANY NEXUS UNTIL WE GIVE YOU THE GO AHEAD... the RadioShack guy pull his head down like a little kid and listed to the Verizon rep, hangs up and tells me "sorry men, can't sell you the phone... we don't have a release date but if you want I can take your phone number and let you know when you can come by to pick it up".... F YOU VERIZON!!!! REALLY!!!!

Once the computer stopped it from scanning the barcode to check out, they had to reverse my upgrade & everything....sad

Oy! When I was out and about yesterday, I didn't get a peep from about 3 stores. Some were blank stares of the clueless and others knew the game. Probably better that way!

Exactly, They will activate the Sim card and everything, sign the paperwork and all but once you get to the point of payment =Rejection
