Random Pop Up Ads and other issues on my G6

Hello,
My LG G6 is receiving pop up ads and occasionally starting up a YouTube video by itself. I have used the cleaning tool but it hasn't made any difference. How do I fix this?

no need for a factory reset. I've had this happen too. it's one of your apps. I had a Sudoku app that was doing that to me. to find out what app it is, hit the recent apps button and you'll find out. then uninstall the app

My son somehow got a malicious app installed on his phone that did stuff like this. It was actually hidden somehow so it didn't show up as an installed or running app using the normal ways you'd see them, but I was able to track it down by using some tools that I'd already had on that phone. There is an app called "Hidden Apps" (which is not what I used; I actually don't remember how I spotted this problem) that is meant to show you these apps and might be worth trying if you don't see anything obvious.

The stock launcher does not contain any ads.
