Rattle

i've heard it's just the camera. i can hear it too, and i can def say my device is operating properly....business as usual

I don't hear a rattle on mine, it's solid as a brick. I'd have to say I'd be concerned if my $700 phone rattles when moved

It wouldn't hurt to contact Pixel customer support to put your mind at ease! Keep us updated!

Me too. Mine was almost $1,000!

UPDATE:
Google is sending me a replacement. Before I even set it up, I'm going to see if the replacement rattles as well. I'll also visit stores that have display models to see if the same issue exists. If all tests prove it's normal, I'll just keep my original.

Really? How did you go about doing this? Did they seem to think its a problem?

UPDATE: Totally forgot about the Support feature with these phones, so I called Google. I explained to them the rattle noise and they said it is normal functionality oh Pixel and Pixel XL. It is primariliy caused by the camera's IS system. He said that there will be a note on my account in case something happens to the device but aside from an accident there should be no problems at all.

I guess I feel better? I am still a bit rattled! (LOL ALERT - CORNY)

I called the support number.

Chances are its the lens. I think most phones if you try to listen for it will have a rattle. For example I never once heard it on my N6. But after reading about the rattle on redit, I listened very very carefully I could here a very slight rattle. I think that's the discrepancy. There is a big difference between trying to hear a rattle and randomly hearing the rattle when you pickup the phone. If its noticeable in normal settings without shaking it near your ear there is probably a problem.

If the replacement has the same issue, can I send it back and keep my original?

There is a few other thread about this. I have commented or started one of them. It drives me nuts. Its not the power button or the volume rocker. As best I can understand its something with the camera. Because if you pull up the camera app it stops. its definitely on the top. I tested it and turning the app on stops it.

I disagree that its ok in any way. I am more unnerved about that then my signal issues. to me rattle = broken= if not broken now, then sometime. Others have said they have had this rattle in many smartphone over the years. Even if nothing happen to mine I see it as a huge design flaw that apparently is systemic and not fixed in other models as well. If my car rattles, I fix it. end of story. nobody puts this much effort into designing something and settles with a rattle. I hope the one i get to replace this one doesn't rattle. I know mine didn't rattle when i first got it. So something from then until rattle went wrong. everytime I set it down or move it to fast i think its broken. I know its maybe just me, but as popeye said" I am am what I am"

No rattles with my pixel or any other camera on any other phone I've owned. I know that would drive me absolutely insane

No rattle here. Very odd - sounds like something is loose inside the body of the phone - obviously not the camera as mine does not rattle.
