Ok just out of curiosity I went to my settings to check for an update. It gave me the message "check for update is not available at this time". Could this really actually mean that they are working on the ics update?

Usually it will tell me "no new software....your phone is up to date". But that message made it seem like the service was unavailable.

There is a setting in the phone that will only let it update over wifi and if you have that selected and are on 3G/4G it will give you that message.

I used to get that on my Bionic all the time. That is what happens when every other owner is chomping at the bit for ICS and checks 3 times a day. System is overloaded, with no relief in sight....

Wife and I both have the MAXX. Her phone was able to check for updates, where with my phone I got the exact same message you ARE getting. I could never get rid of it. I eventually had to do a software factory reset on the phone.

If your phone is not telling telling software is up to date. Reboot your phone and you will be all set

Rebooting (holding power and volume down for more than 10 seconds) didn't work for me. I had to do a factory reset.

That bites!! Mine would not update a couple of weeks ago. It would not tell me my phone was up to date.
I shut the phone down. Restarted it and worked perfectly

I read over at Android Forums that we should be seeing an ICS update this coming week. It should be pushed OTA on the 21st and available for pull on the 23rd. I hope this wasn't more BS but they had a screen shot of a Verizon sales update screen or whatever you call it. We shall see...

I was having the same message while trying to update on 4g. I switched to wifi and it popped right up saying my phone was up to date.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the pull to be available before the forced push?
