Razr Screen (inner display) Spontaneously Burst, Stopped Working

Hi. I've got a Moto Droid Razr that I have been using happily for the past few months now without any problems until this morning.

I put the phone on the charger and it was working fine in the moments before that. When I went to take it off the charger to leave, the screen was all screwy - no images, mostly black, a few lines and colored pixels, but basically totally malfunctioning. Couldn't see the unlock screen or anything else for that matter. Consequently, the phone is totally inoperable.

Upon closer inspection, the inner LED screen is cracked on the right side and spiders off in several directions, but there is no damage to the outer screen/case. I didn't step on the phone after I plugged it in, nor did anybody else.

The only other thing out of the ordinary about the screen lately has been that for the past few days when I go to wake the phone from sleep, the screen illuminates and has frequently gone immediately black again...so I have to push the button again to wake the phone. When I push the button a second time, the phone illuminates and works properly until the next time. Was this an indication that something with the screen or something else was going bad?

Has anybody heard of these problems? Is it repairable?

From time to time when I turn on the screen it will flash and turn off again. I only consider it to be a minor hiccup, as it only happens once in a while. I'm pretty sure Motorola will replace your phone since the cracks are on the inner screen. That's a defect for sure.

Yeah, I would say that little "hiccup" you described is what was happening with my phone in the days before the display broke. Hopefully your LCD won't break like mine did.

Mine has done that hiccup thing forever. Doubt it's related to physical cracking of the screen.
