Re: Bluetooth Incompatibility with 4.3 Body Count

Hi:

You might start with this article:
PSA: Android 4.3 Breaks Compatibility With Many Bluetooth Keyboards

Google started a Nexus 7 Support Site:
Google Groups

Here's the thread on Bluetooth problems:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/ORce7P9V4qU[1-25-false]

After reading many reports, Paul from Google had the following response on 8/19: "Thanks for the feedback about Bluetooth keyboard compatibility with your new Nexus 7 tablets. We're looking into it." Nothing from Paul since.

About half of the keyboards don't connect at all while the other half suffer repeated keystrokes, gibberish, non-functional with wireless etc. Choose your favorite incompatibility:

Bluetooth Keyboards
Adesso Bluetooth keyboard SN K1304000220 Model WKB-1000SB
Apple Bluetooth Keyboard & Logitech M-RCQ142
Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard (Model A1314)

SHARKK? ALUMINUM Ultra Slim Mini Bluetooth 3.0 Wireless Keyboard

Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000
Motorola Bluetooth mouse

Bluetooth Speakers
Cambridge Soundworks OontZ Angle bluetooth speaker

Logitech UE Mobile Boombox

Bluetooth Headsets
Motorola H300
Oticon Streamer
Sony Ericsson MW600 Headset

Google is telling people to buy BT 3.0 compliant keyboards but you should note that several BT 3.0 keyboards don't work with 4.3.

As for other options, I wouldn't believe that any BT devices are compatible with 4.3 unless I see it for my own eyes or have someone I trust verify.

On that note, I got a Perixx 804 Bluetooth Keyboard today and confirm that it works with the Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 7 2013 running 4.3. It pairs, types without repeated keystrokes, works with wifi 2.4 and 5.0 etc.
Perixx PERIBOARD-804, Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard - Black - 10x5" Portable Size - Ultrathin 1/4" Design - Compatible with Android & Windows OS - Silent X Type Scissor Keys - On/Off Switch - US English Layout $26.99

Amazon.com : Perixx PERIBOARD-804, Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard - Black - 10x5" Portable Size - Ultrathin 1/4" Design - Compatible with Android & Windows OS - Silent X Type Scissor Keys - On/Off Switch - US English Layout : Computers & Accessories

It's thin and light but not foldable. It works which makes it a rare-bird indeed.

An old Zen Koan: If Google says they're looking into it, is there anyone in the forest?

I have the Logitech keyboard on the list, it works fine as long as WiFi is off. As soon as WiFi is on though it becomes entirely unusable. I only need the keyboard occasionally, but may go post on the thread you mentioned just so Google knows.

Interesting. Can you connect to 5ghz WiFi and try again? I think there are lots of issues with BT and 2.4ghz simultaneous use. I wonder if 5ghz will work better. I used speed test on WiFi and my speeds went from 10 megs not using BT to 600k while streaming BT audio. My BT car kit also eventually freaks out if I leave WiFi on.

I tried my Sony Ericsson MW600 tonight, and it seems to be working fine. My Logitech keyboard was another matter. Complete mixture of problems. Sometimes it would just keep adding a space, and other times it wouldn't type at all.

The only WiFi I have is a little Virgin Mobile hotspot, I have no idea whether it is 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz, not very techy here. Perhaps I can find out.

Re: Bluetooth Incompatibility with 4.3 Body Count

I have the new logitech bluetooth keyboard and the new 2nd gen nexus 7 and it works fine for me. At this moment I am using it with wifi on. No problems here. Perhaps there is an update needed or a program blocking proper use? I'm clueless, but mine definately works and I've yet to have any problem with it. I turn my bluetooth on/off several times a day.... Hmmm, maybe you have a different router or net then I do, hence the problems?

This is the best wireless keyboard I have used, and I've used some sorry wireless keyboards. This one sleeps, but wakes fast and upon waking it remembers and actually keeps what you have typed in its memory until the computre has authorized bluetooth to accept information from the keyboard. All this happens in about a second. Quite amazing!

The only issue I have is that this logitech keyboard cost me $75, which, imo, is much to high a price for a keyboard. But I have to say, for certain tasks, such as chat, letter writing, and type intensive tasks, it saves me alot of time.
